About Youth Media Alliance
Youth Media Alliance (YMA) is committed to enriching the lives of children and teens across Québec and Canada by helping improve the content created for them across all screens. The Alliance continues its mission to promote the highest-quality content by annually celebrating the best Canadian youth achievements—both francophone and anglophone—through its Awards of Excellence. YMA provides ongoing professional development opportunities tailored to the specific needs of youth-content creators through workshops, seminars, and special events such as the Média-Jeunes and Children, Youth & Media conferences. Since 2015, YMA has offered several development grants: the YMA Andra Sheffer Scholarship, the YMA Thérèse-Pinho Scholarship, the YMA Steven DeNure Scholarship, and the John Rooney Creator Fund. The Alliance also conducts research to better understand the impact of media on young audiences. Finally, Youth Media Alliance advocates for a fair balance between the interests of the broadcasting and production industries and the needs of children and young media consumers within public policy.
