KIMS Canada is proudly organized by the Youth Media Alliance (YMA), a national organization dedicated to supporting quality, inclusive and meaningful Canadian content for children and youth.

As an event of the YMA, KIMS Canada reflects and upholds the values, principles and public positions of the organization. These commitments guide the way we shape our programming, select speakers and participants, build partnerships and create an environment where everyone can participate, connect and contribute.

Our approach includes a commitment to:

Bilingualism

KIMS Canada is committed to making French and English equally part of the conference experience. Our programming is designed to welcome both francophone and anglophone participants, with conference content available in both languages through simultaneous interpretation. We believe that bilingualism strengthens connections, broadens participation and reflects the linguistic diversity of Canada.

This commitment extends beyond translation: KIMS Canada brings French- and English-speaking professionals together in one shared international community, without creating separate linguistic experiences.

Indigenous narrative sovereignty
Recognizing and supporting the rights of Indigenous peoples to tell their own stories and ensuring that Indigenous voices and perspectives are meaningfully represented.

When in Québec City: We, the YMA, acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Wendat Nation, whose community of Wendake is located at the heart of Québec City. We recognize the Wendat Nation’s enduring presence on this territory, as well as its history, culture and traditions. We honour the generations who have cared for this land and reaffirm our commitment to respect, dialogue and reconciliation.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Fostering an industry that reflects the diversity of Canada and creating opportunities for diverse and Indigenous creators, professionals and communities to participate and be represented.

Environmental responsibility
Taking practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of our events, including minimizing waste and printed materials, encouraging sustainable practices and promoting lower-carbon transportation options where possible.

Canadian Screen Industry Values
KIMS Canada supports the values shared across Canada's screen industry, including representation, reflection, showcasing Canadian stories, reconciliation, diversity, access, support for the screen sector, collaboration, sustainability, accountability and equity.
